Goirle / BAM-NIBE
This project was designed in the context of an
architectural competition in which investors form
a team together with architects and consultants.
A linear site, along an important highway near Goirle,
needed 160 apartments of different types. Sustainability
obviously needed a lot of attention in the competition,
including a special focus on acoustical measures,
necessary because of the adjacent highway. Linearity
and urbanity aren’t easy to combine. Ingredients
such as urban squares, curving city-avenues, fan-shaped
building structures, architectural identities mixing
different scales and recognisable housing entries
were incorporated in an abundant way. Furthermore,
a variety of urban and non-urban landscapes were
either hiding, or either focussing on the houses
in such a way that the whole neighbourhood could
slowly get discovered.
